Thought you might be interested in this photo. This is B. G. (Bill) Summers and the first Sharyland School Bus. Bill Summers was a school board member, married to Irene Summers (an employee of Sharyland ISD several years later) and father of Gwen Irene Summers Gabbert and Lana Sue Summers Heina. Both Gwen and Lana attended Sharyland. Gwen graduated from McAllen High School and Lana graduated from Sharyland a few years later. Both Gwen and Lana presently live in Sharyland. Lana lives in the original Summers home where she grew up and Gwen lives next door at 2 1/4 mi North Taylor Road. The photo can be saved from this page.

I really don't know the exact date of the photo. My wife, Gwen graduated from high school in 1957. I dated Gwen from the time she was in the 8th grade and never saw the bus. From the appearance of the vehicle it was probably in the early 40's. Ernie who owns Ernie's Service in Pharr, TX 787-3304 or 787-9256 told me recently that he rode the bus with Mr. Summers. I gave him a copy of this picture recently and he will probably be able to give you a fairly close date. We are still close to Sharyland since our son Jason and daughter Jana graduated from Sharyland.
