HOSE REELS
Helpful REEL information from Reelcraft
Wherever hose or cord is being used in industrial, automotive or other
commercial applications, Reelcraft probably has a reel to handle it while improving the work environment.
Selection of reels Reels are selected based first on the size, type and length of hose
or cord, required and reel on the drive type (hand, motor, or spring rewind) desired.
Hose types and sizes Reelcraft offers reels with or without the following types of hoses
from ¼" I. D. to as much 1 ½" I. D. in some types.
Dual Welding hose (1/4") for oxygen and acetylene and
fuel gases.
Low pressure (LP) for air/water service ONLY; usually not
more than 300 PSI.- Low pressure air hose
reels are the most popular industrial reels.
Medium Pressure (MP) for oil, pressure washer and other fluids
not exceeding 2,000 PSI in most
cases.
High Pressure (HP) for grease ONLY up to 5,000 PSI.
Other hose options are hydraulics and fuel hose.
Reelcraft and Nordic (The Reel Team) also offers numerous hose reels(without
hose) for many other types of
hose, contact factory for a specific application.
Cord/Cable Types and Sizes welding cables from #2 to #2/0 up
to 300 feet (hand crank).
Reelcraft also offers electric cord reels for light and power cords
from #16 to #12; 3 conductor.
Type: SJTO, SJO, and SO
Types Of Reels
Spring Loaded
Spring-loaded reels have been preferred by the majority of reel users
for several decades and provide a proven
and effective method of improving the safety, efficiency and economy
of hose handling in many industrial and
commercial applications.
Spring-loaded reels are ideally suited in that the high quality drive
spring winds as the hose is pulled from the
reel, developing the power required to retract the hose when it is no longer
needed. This simple yet effective
design includes a latch to lock the spring tension during use, providing
free use of the desired hose length. Spring
driven reels require no outside power source to drive the reel during retraction,
offering a cost effective reel to
own and operate.
Motorized
Different types of motors can be used to retract the hose. Motors are
mainly used when the hose is particularly
long or heavy. In these cases a larger force than what can practically be
provided by a spring is required. There
are several different motor alternatives: Pneumatic, Electrical or Hydraulic.
In order to activate the reel to retract the hose some sort of switch
or control valve is needed.
Hand Crank
Are the simplest and least expensive type of reel. Ideal for utility
applications, long lengths of hose/cable or
where cost needs to be kept to a minimum.
